Five Teams Receive NABC Team Academic Excellence Award; 17 Secure Individual Distinction

MADISON, Wis.--Five Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) men’s basketball teams have earned a Team Academic Excellence Award from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) for the 2019-20 season. In addition, 17 student-athletes secured a spot on the Honors Court.
 
University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Platteville, UW-River Falls and UW-Stevens Point collected team recognition by achieving a team cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.
 
Individuals representing the WIAC on the Honors Court included:  UW-Eau Claire’s Adam Link, Blake Wacholz, Luke Pannier and Nathan Banasik; UW-Platteville’s Justin Fox and Justin Jarvensivu; UW-River Falls’ Matt Keller, Alex Ohde and Austin Werdin; and UW-Stevens Point’s Ethan Bublitz, Blake Ehrke, Aaron Knez, Matthew Koerner, Garrett Nelson, Brandon Spray, Peter Timmerman and Brady Wagner.
 
In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows:  Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player; Cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2019-20 academic year; Students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution; and member of a NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach.
