Mike Elam was named the WIAC Coordinator of Men's and Women's Ice Hockey Officials in July 2019. He has nearly 30 years of officiating experience, including NCAA, high school and USA Hockey contests. Elam has officiated numerous WIAC, Northern Collegiate Hockey Association and Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) playoff games, as well as the 2013 and 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey national championship contests. He has officiated men's and women's playoff games in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, and the 2008 and 2010 Women's NCAA Division I Frozen Four.
Since 2006, he has served as President of Minneapolis Hockey Officials, where he is responsible for managing, scheduling and supervising a staff of 115 officials. Elam is the MIAC Coordinator of Hockey Officials and a member of the Minnesota State High School League as the Ice Hockey Representative on the Rules Clinician's Board.
Elam is employed as the Ice Arena Manager for the Forest Lake Area Schools (Minn.) and resides with his family in Lake Elmo, Minn.
