2026 Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship Preview

University of Wisconsin-La Crosse will aim for a fourth consecutive first-place finish at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship (presented by Culver’s) at UW-La Crosse’s Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex May 1-2. This will mark the 107th gathering of conference teams.
 
The Eagles accumulated 252.50 points to secure the 59th conference championship in program archives. UW-Eau Claire was second with 158 points, UW-Oshkosh third with 133, UW-Whitewater fourth with 121, UW-River Falls fifth with 44.5, UW-Platteville sixth with 44, UW-Stout seventh with 41 and UW-Stevens Point eighth with 22.

UW-Oshkosh has six conference championships, while UW-Stevens Point and UW-Whitewater own four and UW-Stout one. Former member UW-Milwaukee collected 34 first-place finishes.
 
Competition at this year’s championship will begin at 1:00 p.m. on May 2, and 11:00 a.m. on May 2. Medals will be awarded to the top-eight finishers in each of the individual events and runners comprising the top-six relay teams, while All-Conference designation will be given to the top-three finishers in each event.
 
This year’s meet features three teams ranked in the top-25 of U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division III Rating Index distributed on April 28. UW-La Crosse is the top-ranked team, while UW-Oshkosh is third and UW-Eau Claire seventh.
 
Returning champions in individual events include: UW-Eau Claire’s Blake Postler (2025/400-meter hurdles); UW-La Crosse’s Collin Conzemius (2024 and 2025/400-meter dash), Chase Doornink (2023/400-meter dash), Aidan Matthai (2025/10,000-meter run), Luke Schroeder (2023/400-meter hurdles, 2024/110-meter hurdles), Cael Schoemann (2023, 2024 and 2025/800-meter run), Joey Sullivan (2024/5,000-meter run) and Andrew Tumminaro (2024 and 2025/pole vault); UW-Oshkosh’s Gavin Fritsch (2025/hammer throw), Londyn Little (2023 and 2024/200-meter dash), Charlie Nolan (2024/decathlon) and Joshua Rivers (2024 and 2025/long jump); and UW-River Falls’ Jacob Balcome (2025/decathlon).
 
Postler received Newcomer of the Year distinction a year ago, while Tumminaro received the award in 2024 and Doornink in 2023.
 
Individuals that have claimed first-place relay medals at previous championships include: UW-La Crosse’s Chase Doornink (2023/4x400-meter relay), Andrew Hackbarth (2024/4x400-meter relay) and Devin Williams (2025/4x400-meter relay); and UW-Oshkosh’s Eddie Jones (2025/4x100-meter relay), Londyn Little (2023 and 2024/4x100-meter relay), Nolan Milas (2025/4x100-meter relay) and Davian Willems (2025/4x100-meter relay).
 
Individuals from remaining conference programs ranking high on this year’s WIAC Honor Roll include:  UW-Platteville’s Caden Schneider (3,000-meter steeplechase and 5,000-meter run and Max Schneider (javelin); UW-Stevens Point’s Jack Gjovik (triple jump) and Logan Murphy (10,000-meter run); UW-Stout’s Malachy Driscoll (110-meter hurdles), Karter Rashke (shot put) and Jesse Fowler (hammer throw); and UW-Whitewater’s Drew Davey (800-meter run) and Sam Vargas (100-meter dash).
