2025 WIAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship Preview

University of Wisconsin-La Crosse will aim for a 13th consecutive first-place finish at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship (presented by Culver’s) at the Oshkosh Sports Complex May 2-3. This will mark the 53rd assembling of conference teams.
 
The Eagles compiled 316.50 points to collect the 38th conference title in program history. UW-Eau Claire placed second with 169.75 points, UW-Oshkosh third with 96, UW-Stout fourth with 80.75, UW-Whitewater fifth with 74, UW-Platteville sixth with 34, UW-Stevens Point seventh with 26 and UW-River Falls eighth with 22.
 
UW-Oshkosh ranks second behind UW-La Crosse with 11 league titles, while UW-Stevens Point has one. Former member UW-Madison collected two first-place finishes. 
 
Competition at this year’s championship will begin at 2:30 p.m. on May 2, and 11:00 a.m. on May 3. Medals will be awarded to the top-eight finishers in each of the individual events and runners comprising the top-six relay teams, while All-Conference designation will be given to the top-three finishers in each event.
 
This year’s meet features four teams ranked in the top-22 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division III Rating Index distributed on April 29. UW-La Crosse is ranked second, while UW-Eau Claire is seventh, UW-Whitewater eighth and UW-Oshkosh 22nd.
 
Returning champions in individual events include: UW-Eau Claire’s Kayla Behnke (2024/discus), Laura Bertrang (2024/javelin), and Emilee Booker (2023/heptathlon); UW-La Crosse’s Samantha Barrett (2022/high jump; 2024/high jump), Katelyn Chadwick (2024/3,000-meter steeplechase), Maya Evans (2024/long jump), Amber Grosse (2024/heptathlon), Lauren Jarrett (2024/100-meter dash and 200-meter dash), and Ella Puls (2023/javelin); UW-Oshkosh’s Maddy LaVoi (2024/400-meter dash), Amelia Lehman (2024/1,500-meter run and 5,000-meter run), Cyna Madigan (2023/800-meter run), and Brenna Masloroff (2024/hammer throw); UW-Platteville’s Hailey Campbell (2024/high jump) and Brenna Noon (2024/shot put); UW-Stevens Point’s Ashley Bartelt (2024/400-meter hurdles) and Rachel Krouse (2023/10,000-meter run); UW-Stout’s Hannah Zastrow (2022/high jump; 2024/100-meter hurdles); and UW-Whitewater’s Gracie Holland (2022/pole vault; 2023/pole vault; 2024/pole vault).
 
Jarrett received Track Performer of the Meet recognition a year ago, while Evans was tabbed the Field Performer of the Meet. Returning Newcomers of the Year include: Campbell (2024) and UW-Stout’s Raegan Sorensen (2022).
 
Individuals that have claimed first-place relay medals at previous championships include: UW-La Crosse’s Lauren Jarrett (2023/4x100-meter relay; 2024/4x100-meter relay), Ellie Jillson (2022/4x400-meter relay), Morgan Jennings (2023/4x400-meter relay, 2024/4x400-meter relay), Taylor Molling (2024/4x100-meter relay), Anna Plautz (2024/4x400-meter relay), Anika Reiland (2024/4x100-meter relay), and Makenna Zak (2024/4x100-meter relay).
 
UW-River Falls’ Annika Gunderson (pole vault) and Adison Wilde (5,000-meter run) and in the top-10 of their respective events on this year’s WIAC Honor Roll.
