2025 WIAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championship Preview University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will aim for a third straight first-place finish at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship (presented by Culver’s) that will be held at Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer, Wis., Feb. 19-22. UW-Eau Claire is the host institution for the 53rd edition of the women’s championship that will be held in unison with the 62nd gathering of the men’s teams. Competition begins on Feb. 19 at 1:45 p.m., with the preliminaries of the women’s three-meter diving. The finals will start at 6:30 p.m., and include a pair of relay events. For competition held Feb. 20 and Feb. 21, preliminaries will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the finals commencing at 6:30 p.m. The final day will feature 10:00 a.m. preliminaries and a 5:45 p.m. start for the finals. Medals will be awarded to the top-eight finishers in each of the individual events and the individuals comprising the top-three relay teams. In 2024, the Blugolds won the 21st title in program archives with 971 points. UW-La Crosse finished second with 912.50 points, UW-Stevens Point third with 526.50, UW-Oshkosh fourth with 466 and UW-Whitewater fifth with 263. UW-Eau Claire and UW-La Crosse each have a conference-best 21 championships. UW-Stevens Point owns six titles, while former member UW-Madison secured four first-place finishes. Returning champions in individual events include: UW-Eau Claire’s Molly Hosack (2024/500-yard freestyle and 1,650-yard freestyle), Syndey McGuine (2022/100-yard freestyle; 2023/100-yard backstroke; 2024/50-yard freestyle and 200-yard backstroke), and Elaina Plonis (2023/200-yard butterfly; 2024/200-yard butterfly); UW-La Crosse’s Maddy Albert-Nelson (2022/100-yard butterfly and 200-yard butterfly), Joanne Banaszak (2024/three-meter diving), Jordy Hahlen (2022/100-yard backstroke; 2024/100-yard backstroke), Abi Schauske (2023/400-yard individual medley; 2024/400-yard individual medley), and Autumn Seebach (2022/200-yard backstroke); UW-Oshkosh’s Francesca Schiro (2023/200-yard freestyle; 2024/100-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle); and UW-Stevens Point’s Kasey Fris (2022/400-yard individual medley; 2023/200-yard backstroke; 2024/200-yard individual medley). Schiro claimed Swimmer of the Meet recognition last season, while Banaszak was tabbed the Diver of the Meet.
