2024 WIAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championship Preview University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will aim for a 24th straight first-place finish at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men’s Swimming & Diving Championship (presented by Culver’s) that will be held at Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer, Wis., Feb. 14-17. UW-La Crosse is the host institution for the 61st version of the men’s championship that will be held in unison with the 52nd edition of the women’s event. Competition begins on Feb. 14 at 1:45 p.m., with the preliminaries of the men’s three-meter diving. The finals will start at 6:30 p.m., and include a pair of relay events. For competition held Feb. 15 and Feb. 16, preliminaries will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the finals commencing at 6:30 p.m. The final day will feature 10:00 a.m. preliminaries and a 5:45 p.m. start for the finals. Medals will be awarded to the top-eight finishers in each of the individual events and the individuals comprising the top-three relay teams. In 2023, the Pointers captured the 26th WIAC championship in program archives with 907 points to surpass UW-Eau Claire’s second-place total of 853 points. UW-La Crosse finished third with 686 points, UW-Whitewater fourth with 432 and UW-Oshkosh fifth with 228. UW-Stevens Point’s 26 titles are the most in conference history. UW-Eau Claire has 25 first-place finishes, while UW-La Crosse has four. Former programs UW-Platteville and UW-Milwaukee claimed one and four championships, respectively. Returning champions in individual events include: UW-Eau Claire’s Kadin Denner (2023/500-yard freestyle, 1,650-yard freestyle and 400-yard individual medley), Benjamin Keller (2022/1,650-yard freestyle and 400-yard individual medley; 2023/200-yard individual medley), Ben Koller (2023/one-meter diving), Ian Olson (2023/200-yard breaststroke), Sam Ryf (2022/500-yard freestyle and 200-yard butterfly; 2023/100-yard backstroke and 200-yard butterfly), and Evan Schroeder (2023/200-yard freestyle); UW-La Crosse’s Will Quackenbush (2022/100-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle); UW-Stevens Point’s Gus Grimstad (2023/100-yard butterfly), Alec Jeffers (2020/100-yard backstroke), Caiden Kuehn (2023/200-yard backstroke), and Jacob Larsen (2020/100-yard butterfly); and UW-Whitewater’s Dom Schlueter (2023/100-yard freestyle). Denner received Swimmer of the Meet accolades at last year’s championship, while Schlueter secured Newcomer of the Year honors. Larsen was the Newcomer of the Year in 2020 and Keller earned the distinction in 2021. UW-Oshkosh has received strong swims this season from Damen Seremet. Qualifying individuals will compete at the NCAA Division III Championship, which will be conducted March 20-23 at Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C. # # # # #
