2024 WIAC Women's Golf Championship Preview

The 29th version of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women’s Golf Championship (presented by Culver’s) will be held at Reedsburg Country Club in Reedsburg, Wis., Oct. 4-6. University of Wisconsin-Whitewater will strive for an eighth consecutive first-place finish. UW-Oshkosh is the host of the championship that will feature 54 holes and commence with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. on Oct. 4, while tee times off both sets of tees will begin at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 5-6.
 
The winning team will receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Championship that will be held May 13-16, 2025, at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas.
 
UW-Whitewater and UW-Eau Claire own a conference-best nine team titles, while UW-Oshkosh has four, and UW-Stevens Point and UW-Stout three each.
 
In last year’s championship, UW-Whitewater finished with 959 strokes to surpass the second-place total of 977 strokes by UW-La Crosse. UW-Stout placed third with 978 strokes, UW-Platteville fourth with 1,025, UW-Stevens Point fifth with 1,046, UW-Oshkosh sixth with 1,058, UW-Eau Claire seventh with 1,065, and UW-River Falls eighth with 1,078.
 
UW-Whitewater’s lineup features: Ellie Johnson (78.3 stroke average this fall), Kallie Lux (80.0), Payton Schmidt (79.8), Haley Myers (79.8), and Abbie Reiser (83.8). Lux was the WIAC Kwik Trip Newcomer of the Year in 2021, while Reiser received the distinction in 2022. Johnson, Lux and Myers tied for first at the Carthage Battle on the Border, while Johnson added a fifth-place finish at the Illinois Wesleyan Fall Invitational. Myers took eighth at the Wartburg Invitational.
 
UW-Stout’s lineup consists of: Julia Imai (75.6), Sydney Grimm (76.1), Brin Neumann (79.4), Hallie Tulip (85.4), and Abby Terada (82.3). Imai owns the top stroke average in the conference this fall and won the UW-River Falls Falcon Invitational. She also tied for second at the UW-La Crosse Fall Invitational, while adding a sixth-place finish at the UW-Whitewater Fall Invitational.

UW-La Crosse’s lineup includes: Haley Thoeny (80.9), Jenna Wiebke (79.9), Grace Ellison (83.5), Allison Balduzzi (82.8), and Claire Kelbel (87.0). Thoeny claimed WIAC Kwik Trip Newcomer of the Year honors a season ago. Wiebke tied for first at the UW-Eau Claire Georgianni Invitational and tied for second at the UW-La Crosse Fall Invitational.
 
UW-Oshkosh’s lineup features: Taryn Endres (79.0), Ava Downie (85.4), Sydney Bornhorst (86.2), Chloe Strunk (90.0), and Hailey Matenaer (86.0). Endres placed first at the Millikin (IL) Dechert Classic, tied for second at the Marian Fall Invitational and fifth at the Augustana Highland Championship.
 
UW-Eau Claire’s lineup consists of: Lilly Kaminski (83.0), Elizabeth Hermann (86.1), Olivia McSorley (86.9), Bri Novak (88.3), and Lydia Jensen (88.8). Kaminski tied for fourth at the UW-Eau Claire Georgianni Invitational and was sixth at the UW-La Crosse Fall Invitational.
 
UW-River Falls’ lineup includes: Sydney Burgess (84.9), Kate Garbow (85.8), Lauren Skov (85.1), Grace Gabriel (89.6), and Lily Sullivan (87.0). Garbow finished fourth at the UW-Superior Twin Ports Collegiate.
 
UW-Platteville’s lineup features: Taylor Swalve (86.0), Madison Berg (84.8), Jada Chang (89.4), Chloe Chappell (88.9), and Danielle Bruecker (91.3). Swalve placed seventh at the UW-River Falls Falcon Invitational, while tying for seventh at the UW-Eau Claire Georgianni Invitational. Berg took second at the Loras Invitational.
 
UW-Stevens Point’s lineup consists of: Kate Downie (82.0), Rae Barwick (87.0), Delaney Giesen (92.0), Chloe Brown (93.1), and Megan Bonikowske (94.3). Downie placed 10th at the UW-River Falls Falcon Invitational.
 
Additionally, 36 golfers will compete as individuals to round out the 76-player field.
