2021 WIAC Women's Tennis Championship Preview University of Wisconsin-Whitewater will look for a 14th straight crown at the 2021 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women’s Tennis Championship (presented by Culver’s) that will be conducted April 24-25, and hosted by UW-Whitewater at Wangerin Courts and Whitewater High School. This will mark the 49th gathering of league teams. The Warhawks won their conference-best 20th title in program archives in fall of 2019 with 21 points. UW-Eau Claire placed second with 18 points, UW-La Crosse third with 15, UW-Oshkosh fourth with 12, UW-Stevens Point fifth with eight and UW-River Falls and UW-Stout tied for sixth with five. UW-La Crosse ranks second all-time with 15 WIAC championships, while UW-Eau Claire owns 12 first-place finishes. This year’s championship will use a team tournament format to crown the league champion and the winner will also receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Championship. UW-Whitewater owns the top seed for the seven-team event after producing a 6-0 record against WIAC adversaries during the regular season. UW-Eau Claire (5-1) is the No. 2 seed, and is followed by No. 3 seed UW-La Crosse (4-2); No. 4 seed UW-Stevens Point (3-3); No. 5 seed UW-River Falls (2-4); No. 6 seed UW-Stout (1-5); and No. 7 seed UW-Oshkosh (0-6). Competition begins at noon on April 24 with first round contests that will be played to completion. Semifinal matches, as well as a consolation contest between the non-winner of the No. 2/No. 7 and No. 3/No. 6 matches, will start at 4 p.m. and be played to decision. The championship match will also be played to decision and begin at 10:30 a.m. on April 25. # # # # #
