University of Wisconsin-Whitewater will strive for a fifth consecutive first-place finish at the 2021 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women’s Golf Championship (presented by Culver’s). The 26th version of the league event will be hosted by UW-River Falls and determined over 54 holes at Reedsburg Country Club in Reedsburg, Wis., Oct. 8-10. A shotgun start will commence at 11 a.m. on Oct. 8, while flighted tee times off both sets of tees will begin at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 9-10.
 
This marks the sixth straight season that the course has hosted the conference meet. The team winner will receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Championship that will be conducted May 10-13 in Houston, Texas.
 
UW-Whitewater’s fourth championship was secured in the spring and is the longest streak in WIAC history. The Warhawks claimed the sixth title in program archives with 925 strokes. UW-La Crosse recorded the highest finish in program history, placing second with 963 strokes, while UW-Stout was third with 1,021, UW-Eau Claire fourth with 1,026, UW-Stevens Point fifth with 1,028, UW-Platteville sixth with 1,053, UW-Oshkosh seventh with 1,055 and UW-River Falls eighth with 1,094.
 
UW-Eau Claire boasts a league-high nine first-place finishes, while UW-Oshkosh has four, and UW-Stevens Point and UW-Stout own three apiece.
 
UW-Whitewater’s 2021 lineup features five golfers averaging below 84 strokes per 18 holes, including Ashton Sinak, who owns a team-best 78.0 stroke average. She broke the program record for 36-hole score with a 145 at the Illinois Wesleyan Fall Classic. Her performance included a school record-tying 71 in the second round. Sinak claimed WIAC Player of the Year honors in 2019. Sinak will be joined in the lineup by Kallie Lux (79.5), Lily Sheppard (80.8), Madi LaPaz (81.8) and Elizabeth Johnson (83.4).
 
UW-La Crosse’s Sophie Denure and Molly Larsen share team honors with an 82.7 stroke average. Andrea Schleeper and Maija Tanberg have an 83.7 mark with Schleeper receiving medalist recognition at the UW-La Crosse Eagle Invitational. Grace Ellison rounds out the lineup with an 84.4 stroke average.
 
UW-Stout’s Abbey Filipiak was the conference’s Newcomer of the Year a season ago and currently sustains a 78.3 stroke average. The Blue Devils will also have Sydney Grimm (83.9), Kendra Swanson (85.3), Grace Warrner (91.1) and Madeline Kiley (92.5) at the championship.
 
UW-Eau Claire’s Lexi Meade is the reigning conference Player of the Year and has a 79.9 stroke average this fall. She secured medalist honors at the UW-Eau Claire Georgianni Blugold Invitational and UW-River Falls Falcon Invitational. The Blugold lineup will also include Jaden Woiwode (83.2), Megan Glaeser (84.6), Holly Carlson (87.0) and Jenna Wiebke (88.7).
 
UW-Oshkosh’s lineup consists of Erika Priebe (83.3), Margherite Pettenuzzo (84.6), Megan Footit (85.9), Ava Downie (88.7) and Josie Hofer (89.0).
 
UW-Platteville’s Markie Ash boasts a conference-best 76.5 stroke average. She secured medalist honors at the UW-Whitewater Fall Classic. Her score of 147 at the event broke her own 36-hole school record and her 73 in the second round was a personal best and tied for second lowest in school history. The Pioneers’ lineup will also feature Cortney Olson (87.5), Josie Alm (91.0), Jada Chang (91.3) and Emily Veenhuis (91.8).
 
UW-River Falls’ Syndey Hufnagle has a team-best 84.1 stroke average and claimed medalist accolades at the UW-Oshkosh Titan Fall Classic. She is joined by Cadence Moe (88.1), Courtney Carson (91.1), Madi Hasley (91.6) and Taylor Hemann (97.2).
 
UW-Stevens Point’s Bree Downie established a conference championship record for low 18-hole score with a 69 during the final round of last year’s championship. This season, she has a team-best 86.1 stroke average. The lineup also includes Andrea Tietz (91.0), Jenny Marshall (93.0), Megan Bonikowske (98.2) and Brooke Tuska (100.2).
