UW-La Crosse and UW-Oshkosh Secure NCAA Women’s Basketball Sweet 16 Appearances

MADISON, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and UW-Oshkosh secured spots in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship with second round victories on March 7.
 
UW-La Crosse (20-9) beat Carroll University (Wis.) 80-60 in a second round matchup in Waukesha, Wis. The Eagles, making their first ever sectional semifinal appearance, will take on University of Southern Maine (27-2) in New York, N.Y., on March 13. UW-La Crosse posted a 78-52 win over LaGrange College (Ga.) in the opening round.
 
UW-Oshkosh (26-3) posted a 65-56 win over Wisconsin Lutheran College in the second round in Oshkosh. The Titans will host Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.) in a sectional semifinal game on March 13. UW-Oshkosh beat Webster University (Mo.) 53-37 in the first round.
 
UW-Whitewater also advanced to the second round, but fell 62-46 against University of Chicago (Ill.) in Whitewater. The Warhawks emerged with a 70-65 win over Transylvania University (Ky.) in the first round. UW-Whitewater finished the season with a 20-9 mark and made their 24th NCAA appearance.
 
UW-Platteville, making its first ever NCAA appearance, lost in the first round 69-51 to Coe College (Iowa) in Arden Hills, Minn. The Pioneers completed the 2026 campaign with an 18-9 record, the most wins in program history since the 1998 season (22-8).
 
UW-River Falls lost 84-81 in overtime to Ripon College (Wis.) in a first round contest in Moorhead, Minn. The Falcons finished the season with a 16-13 record and made their first NCAA appearance since 2016 and sixth in program history.
