The segments will be posted every Thursday and individuals are selected by the institution. The WIAC Student-Athlete Spotlights are presented by Culver's. Name: Evan Olson Institution: UW-Whitewater Hometown and High School: Kimberly, Wis. (Kimberly High School) Year in school: Sophomore Sport: Baseball Major: Accounting Why did you choose UW-Whitewater? I chose UW-Whitewater because it has the perfect balance of academic and athletic focus. On the academic side as an accounting major, it was important to me that I went to a school where I would gain the knowledge necessary to be successful in my future career. On the athletic side, I wanted to be part of a national championship caliber program, and UW-Whitewater has provided me with just that. As soon as I stepped on campus, I felt like it was the best place for me to become the best version of myself. What other clubs/organizations on campus are you involved in? I am currently not involved in any other programs other than baseball. However, I will go to “Cru live” events occasionally that help me grow in my faith. What do you like most about competing in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and being a NCAA Division III student-athlete? My favorite part about competing in the WIAC is the competitiveness of it. I firmly believe that it has the most talent in NCAA Division III and as a result I am pushed to become the best player I can become. When it comes to being a NCAA Division III student-athlete, I love that I can play the sport I love at highly competitive level while also obtaining a degree that is going to set me up for success in life. You can’t control when you get to be in the lineup or get on the mound, but you can control the work you put in and the mindset you have. By doing those things, when opportunities present themselves, you can take advantage of them. One word that describes you? Committed What is your dream job?
