Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week - September 1

MADISON, Wis.--Following are the WIAC Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week for the week of August 25 - 31.

WOMEN'S GOLF
Taryn Endres, Senior (Windsor, Wis./DeForest), of UW-Oshkosh
Endres helped UW-Oshkosh take second at the Augustana College (Ill.) Highland Championship (held Aug. 31-Sept. 1) by winning the individual title with 147 strokes (3-over par). On the way to her first solo collegiate meet win, Endres shot 76 strokes with two birdies on the first day and set a new personal 18-hole low of 71 strokes, including four birdies, on the second day. UW-Oshkosh’s 306 strokes across the two-day meet is the second lowest 36-hole total in program history.

MEN’S SOCCER
Offense
Ethan Dietrich, Senior (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly), Forward of UW-Platteville
Dietrich contributed to two of the Pioneers goals during the week to begin the 2025 season. He found the back of the net in the fourth minute of UW-Platteville's 2-2 draw with Hamline University (Minn.) in the season opener, before assisting on the game-winner in a 1-0 win over Carthage College (Wis.) on Aug. 31. Dietrich finished the week with six total shots and two shots on goal.

Max Kutz, Sophomore (Lakeville, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran Academy), Goalkeeper of UW-Stout
Kutz made eight saves in the season opening 0-0 draw at Crown College (Minn.). He saw 19 shots with eight on target, blanking the Polars for his first collegiate clean sheet. He saved a penalty in the 11th minute and the ensuing rebound attempt. Five of his saves came in the second half when the Blue Devils were playing with 10 men.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
Offense

Emery Bigler, Junior (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee), Forward of UW-River Falls
Bigler led the Falcons to a 2-0 start to open the 2025 season as they defeated Crown College (Minn.) 3-0 on Aug. 29, and St. Norbert College (Wis.) 4-1 on Aug. 31. She scored in both games and assisted on the game-winning goal against Crown for a total of five points during the week.

Stewart had two goals, including the game-winner, in UW-La Crosse's season-opening 7-0 victory over Carroll University (Wis.) on Aug. 29. She scored at 4:04 for the game's first goal and later scored at 48:37 to make it 4-0. Stewart had three shots in the game, all coming on goal.

WOMEN’S TENNIS
Singles
Abby Weaver, Sophomore (Wakarusa, Ind./Mishawake Marian), of UW-Whitewater
Weaver started the 2025 season off strong, helping the Warhawks sweep their opening conference dual match and winning her individual bracket in the UW-Whitewater Warhawk Fall Invitational. In the conference match against UW-Oshkosh, she took the No. 2 singles flight 6-0, 6-3. At the Warhawk Fall Invitational, Weaver opened the day strong with a 6-0, 6-1 victory in her first match. In the semifinal, she only dropped three games in another straight set victory. Weaver took the gold after a close championship match. She claimed the first set 7-5 before cruising to a 6-1 win to stay undefeated on the weekend.

Bailey and Roth won the No. 1 doubles flight at the UW-Whitewater Warhawk Fall Invitational on Aug. 30. The duo opened with a 6-0 victory over Olivia Herzog/Marin Catencamp of UW-Eau Claire followed by a 6-3 win over Paige Sargent/Logan Tom of Grinnell (Iowa) in the semifinals. Bailey/Roth won the flight with a 6-4 victory over Molly Asfeld/Crystina Lee of UW-Whitewater.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Offense
Abby Stanwood, Senior (Excelsior, Minn./Minnetonka), Outside Hitter of UW-Eau Claire
Stanwood led the Blugolds to a 3-1 record to open the season at the Pikes Peak Challenge, hosted by Colorado College, with a team-high 52 kills. In three matches played, Stanwood averaged 4.73 kills per set in her 11 sets played. While hitting at a .327 percentage, she averaged 4.82 points per set and added 23 digs.

Ewert recorded 5.09 digs per set as the Pioneers finished 2-1 against three ranked opponents at the Trinity University (Texas) Tournament. She posted 23 digs in the season-opening win over No. 23-ranked New York University and then added 12 more in a four-set loss to No. 12-ranked Millikin University (Ill.) to begin action on Aug. 30. Ewert concluded the weekend with 21 digs as the Pioneers swept No. 10-ranked Trinity (Tex.).

Setter
Aubrie Krzus, Junior (Wheaton, Ill./Warrenville South), Setter of UW-Whitewater
Krzus led UW-Whitewater to a 3-0 week to open the 2025 campaign. In the team’s opener against No. 21-ranked Christopher Newport University (Va.), Krzus tallied 33 assists and added three aces to lead the Warhawks to the sweep. She followed with 45 assists against Coast Guard and 28 in a win over Catholic University (D.C.). Krzus dished out 10.60 assists per set, adding 1.30 kills per set and a total of five aces across three matches. She was named the Captains Classic MVP for her performance at the invitational.
