Six Secure Academic All-America® Men’s Cross Country/Track & Field Accolades

AUSTIN, Texas
--Six Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) individuals have been named to the 2024-25 NCAA Division III Academic All-America® Men’s Cross Country/Track & Field Team.
 
University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s Adam Strouf, UW-La Crosse’s Grant Matthai and UW-Whitewater’s Gunner Schlender were first team selections, while UW-La Crosse’s Aidan Matthai secured second team honors. UW-La Crosse’s Collin Conzemius and Cael Schoemann received third team designation.
 
Strouf is majoring in mathematics, statistics and applied mathematics and sustains a 3.86 grade point average. He won national titles in the indoor and outdoor shot put this season and ranks in the top four on UW-Eau Claire's all-time list in both events. Strouf was victorious in the shot put at the conference indoor and outdoor championships during the 2025 campaign.
 
Grant Matthai is majoring in statistics and boasts a 4.00 grade point average. In cross country, he was an All-American after finishing third individually at the national championship, and won the individual crown at the WIAC championship. In indoor track & field, Matthai earned All-America recognition in the 3,000- and 5,000-meter run. He won the 5,000-meter run. At the NCAA outdoor championship, Matthai finished fourth in the 10,000-meter run and ninth in the 5,000-meter run to secure All-America recognition in both events.
 
Schlender graduated in May with a degree in physical education and certificates in adaptive physical education, health and coaching, while maintaining a 4.00 grade point average. He was tabbed the WIAC Max Sparger Scholar Athlete in cross country and indoor track & field during the 2024-25 academic year, and received the NCAA Elite 90 Award twice during his career. He collected 12 All-America honors in cross country and track & field.

Aidan Matthai maintains a 3.95 grade point average and is majoring in statistics. He earned All-America honors in cross country by finishing ninth. Matthai was second at the NCAA Division III north region championship and fifth at the WIAC championship. In indoor track & field, he secured All-America recognition with a seventh-place finish in the 3,000-meter run and fourth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run. During the outdoor track & field season, Matthai claimed All-America honors in the 10,000-meter run with a fifth-place finish.
 
Conzemius is majoring in marketing and owns a 3.60 grade point average. During the indoor track & field season, he won the 400-meter dash at the WIAC championship, while finishing third in the event at the national championship. Conzemius was a member of the third-place 4x400-meter relay team at the national meet. In outdoor track & field, he secured All-America status with a runner-up finish in the 400-meter run and 4x400-meter relay.
 
Schoemann claimed All-America accolades for the second straight year after receiving second team recognition in 2024. He maintains a 3.50 grade point average and is majoring in political science. Schoemann won the national title in the 800-meter at the NCAA indoor championship. During the outdoor track & field season, he placed third in the 800-meter run at the national championship to secure All-America honors. Schoemann also won the 800-meter run at the WIAC indoor and outdoor championships.
 
To be nominated, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his current institution, rank in the Top 50 in the region on the TFRRS performance list rankings in a single event (indoor or outdoor) for an individual performance (no relays), or have a Top 50 individual performance at the 2024 NCAA regional, and is at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
