Baseball 5/14/2025 1:58:53 PM All-WIAC Baseball Honors Announced Printable PDF of the 2025 All-WIAC Baseball Team MADISON, Wis.--The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has announced its baseball awards for the 2025 season, based on voting by the conference coaches. University of Wisconsin-Whitewater’s Matt Scolan and Max Huseboe were selected the Kwik Trip Position Player of the Year and Kwik Trip Pitcher of the Year, respectively. UW-La Crosse’s AJ Curtis claimed Kwik Trip Newcomer of the Year distinction, and UW-Whitewater’s John Vodenlich received Kwik Trip Coach of the Year honors. Scolan claimed the recognition for the second straight year and has earned first team accolades for three consecutive seasons. He leads the conference with a .426 batting average, .852 slugging percentage, .509 on-base percentage, 1.361 OPS, 69 runs scored, and 75 hits, while tying for the lead with 55 RBI and 17 home runs, and tying for second with 16 doubles and four triples. Scolan has at least one hit in 38-of-44 games, including 22 multi-hit performances. He has accumulated a season-high five hits twice – against UW-Oshkosh on April 10 and UW-Stout on April 26. Scolan owns four games with multiple home runs. Huseboe was a first team selection in 2023, and tops the WIAC with 71 strikeouts, while ranking second with a 2.66 earned run average, fourth with 61.0 innings pitched, fifth with a .247 opponent batting average and tied for seventh with five wins. He struck out at least six batters in eight games, including a season-high nine against UW-Platteville on May 2. Curtis is fourth in the conference with a 3.12 earned run average and .241 opponent batting average, 11th with 52.0 innings pitched and tied for 11th with 43 strikeouts. A newcomer is defined as a student-athlete who used his first season of participation in baseball this season. Transfers are not eligible unless they didn’t participate in baseball at their previous institution. Repeat selections on the first team from last season include: UW-La Crosse’s Mac Born, Isaiah Katz, and George Seaman; UW-Oshkosh’s Connor Brinkman; and UW-Stout’s Justin Sedin. Born, Katz (Pitcher of the Year), Brinkman, and Sedin joined UW-Whitewater’s Adam Cootway (Position Player of the Year) on the first team in 2023. In 2022, Born and Brinkman (Newcomer of the Year) received first team status, along with UW-La Crosse’s Caleb Matl and Nate Witte. Born added Newcomer of the Year honors in 2021. Vodenlich received the coaching award for the 12th time in his career. He has led the Warhawks to a 39-5 record and the WIAC regular season and tournament titles. UW-Whitewater has secured an NCAA postseason bid for the 26th time in program history. An All-Sportsmanship Team was named for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season.
