MADISON, Wis.
--The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has announced its women’s ice hockey awards for the 2025 season, based on voting by the conference coaches.

University of Wisconsin-River Falls’ Bailey Olson was selected the Kwik Trip Player of the Year, while teammate Kylie Jones received Kwik Trip Newcomer of the Year honors. UW-River Falls’ Joe Cranston secured Kwik Trip Coach of the Year recognition.

Olson’s selection marks the eighth time that UW-River Falls has had a player secure the distinction. She was an honorable mention selection the last two seasons. Olson leads the WIAC with 25 goals, 29 assists, 54 points, and 149 shots, while tying for first with six power-play goals. She had added a pair of game-winning goals and recorded hat tricks against UW-Superior on Jan. 17, and UW-Stevens Point on Feb. 15. Olson has at least one point in 23 of 28 contests, including a season-high six points against St. Catherine University (Minn.) on Jan. 9.

Repeat selections on the first team from a year ago included: UW-River Falls’ MaKenna Aure and Megan Goodreau; and UW-Stevens Point’s Courtney Leising. All three individuals also earned first team honors in 2023 with Aure being named Newcomer of the Year.

Jones becomes the fourth Falcon to secure the newcomer honor, joining Brooke Walters (2020), Alex Hantge (2021), and Aure (2023). She ranks fourth in the WIAC with 23 assists and tied for fourth with 31 points. Jones has recorded a season-high three assists on two occasions. A newcomer is defined as a student-athlete who used her first season of participation in women’s ice hockey this season. Transfers are not eligible unless they didn’t participate in women’s ice hockey at their previous institution.

Cranston claimed the coaching award for the second straight season and fifth time in his career (2017, 2019, 2021, 2024). He has led the Falcons to the WIAC regular-season championship and O’Brien Cup title. The Falcons own a 23-3-2 record and will make their 16th NCAA appearance this year. Cranston secured his 500th career victory against Concordia College-Moorhead (Minn.) on Jan. 3.

An All-Sportsmanship Team was announced for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. It included one member from each team as selected by that team.
