Women's Lacrosse 6/10/2024 10:59:08 AM Robinson Named UW-La Crosse Women’s Lacrosse Head Coach **Release courtesy of UW-La Crosse Sports Information LA CROSSE, Wis.--The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Intercollegiate Athletics Department has named Alexandra Robinson as its head lacrosse coach after serving as interim head coach in 2023-24. Robinson completed her first season as an Eagles' assistant coach in 2022-23. UWL, in its fifth season as a varsity sport, finished 12-6 overall and 4-2 in the inaugural standings in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) under Robinson. The Eagles finished third in the league standings and advanced to the conference tournament championship game after a semifinal victory over UW-River Falls. The 12 victories tied the single-season school record set in 2023. "I want to express my gratitude to Kim Blum and the hiring committee for believing in me and my vision for this program," said Robinson. "Working with our high performing student-athletes and coaches, the dedication, commitment, and excellence is truly unmatched and feels like the epitome of the Division III experience." Eight players were named to the 2024 All-WIAC Team, including senior goalkeeper Abi Furlano, junior defender Kaley Hendrick and sophomore midfielder Ava Schiltz who earned first team accolades. Schiltz set single-season school records in goals (64) and points (115) while Furlano set a school record for saves (172). Kiersten Pelletier set an Eagles' season record in assists (29). "I've been fortunate to witness first hand how exceptional this program is over the last two years," said Robinson. "It is an honor to coach these amazing student-athletes who are what make this program so strong. I look forward to continuing to lead them and am excited to build on our success." UWL set team school records in assists (107), saves (191), ground balls (392) and caused turnovers (161) a year ago. "Ali has demonstrated her unwavering commitment to the program during her year as an assistant coach and last year as the interim head coach," said UWL Director of Athletics Kim Blum. "It is evident Ali cares about the players and wants what is best for them in all aspects of their lives. The team excelled on the field under her leadership and has shown the potential to build a championships program due to her passion for the sport of lacrosse as well as her experience and knowledge." Robinson came to UWL after earning her bachelor's and master's degrees from Trine University (Ind.). She earned her bachelor's in sports and recreation in 2021 with minors in sports psychology and exercise science. Robinson earned her master's degree in organizational leadership in May 2022. Serving as team captain for the lacrosse team at Trine (Ind.), Robinson was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She played defense for the Thunder for four seasons. Robinson participated in the Trine University Scholarship Day and Walk into My Future Day. She was the assistant lacrosse coach serving an internship with Seacoast United Houlagans Lacrosse in Epping, New Hampshire. "I appreciate the values that Ali emphasizes and I look forward to the direction the team will go with her guidance," added Blum. "She has the utmost desire to help this team accomplish goals and will take it upon herself to do whatever is necessary to contribute all she can." # # # # #
