Men's Ice Hockey 3/6/2024 11:58:42 AM All-WIAC Men’s Ice Hockey Honors Accolades Announced Printable PDF of the 2024 All-WIAC Men's Ice Hockey Team MADISON, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s Max Gutjahr and UW-Stevens Point’s Fletcher Anderson were tabbed Kwik Trip Co-Players of the Year to lead the individuals selected to the 2024 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men’s Ice Hockey Team by the league coaches. In addition, UW-Stout’s Boyd Stahlbaum was named the Kwik Trip Newcomer of the Year and UW-Stevens Point’s Tyler Krueger received Kwik Trip Coach of the Year recognition. Gutjahr is the fourth Blugold to secure the award, joining Tyler Green (2016), Patrick Moore (2017) and Quinn Green (2023). Gutjahr started all 27 games and compiled a 16-9-2 record with seven shutouts. He recorded a 1.80 goals-against-average, 586 saves and .924 save percentage. Anderson claimed the honor for the second straight year and becomes the first individual in WIAC history to accomplish the feat. He is tied for first in the conference with six power-play goals, while ranking third with 30 points, fourth with 13 goals and tied for sixth with 17 assists. Stahlbaum ranks first in the WIAC with 32 points, tied for first with 14 goals, and tied for third with 18 assists, while adding five power-play goals and two game-winning goals. A newcomer is defined as a student-athlete who used his first season of participation in men’s ice hockey this season. Transfers are not eligible unless they didn’t participate in men’s ice hockey at their previous institution. UW-Stevens Point’s Mick Heneghan joins Fletcher as repeat selections on the first team from a season ago. Krueger secured the coaching award for the third time in his career (2019, 2022). He has led the Pointers to a 21-5-2 record, the WIAC regular-season title and Commissioner’s Cup. UW-Stevens Point also earned a spot in the NCAA tournament. The Pointers have accumulated at least 20 wins in five of Krueger’s seven seasons. An All-Sportsmanship Team was named for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season.
