Women's Volleyball 11/15/2024 11:57:50 AM All-WIAC Women’s Volleyball Honors Revealed Printable PDF of the 2024 All-WIAC Women's Volleyball Team MADISON, Wis.--The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has announced its 2024 All-Conference Women’s Volleyball Team that was selected by the league coaches. University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s Ashley Kopp was selected the Kwik Trip Offensive Player of the Year, while UW-Oshkosh’s Abby Fregien received Kwik Trip Defensive Player of the Year honors. UW-Eau Claire’s Kaitlyn Erickson was tabbed the Kwik Trip Newcomer of the Year and UW-Oshkosh’s Jon Ellmann the Kwik Trip Coach of the Year. Kopp secured the award for the second time in her career (2022). She is a four-time All-WIAC first team honoree, joining Alexis Hartman (2011-14) as the only individuals in program history to accomplish the feat. Kopp was tabbed the conference’s Newcomer of the Year in 2021. She leads the WIAC with 1,255 attempts, 508 kills and 588 points, while ranking third with a .295 hitting percentage. It is the fourth straight season that she has surpassed the 500-kills mark. Kopp has recorded at least 10 kills in 29 of 30 matches, including a season-high 29 kills against Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) on Sept. 13. Her 2,176 career kills rank second in WIAC archives. Fregien secured defensive recognition for the second time in her career (2022). She is the first four-time All-WIAC defensive team honoree in program history. Fregien is second in the conference with 505 digs and has reached double-digits in digs in 29 of 30 matches, including a season-best 33 digs against UW-Platteville on Nov. 14. Fregien has compiled 2,140 career digs. Erickson played in all 28 matches for the Blugolds and is tied for fifth in the conference with 440 digs and tied for ninth with 39 service aces. She recorded a season-high 31 digs against Bethel University (Minn.) on Oct. 18. A newcomer is defined as a student-athlete who used her first season of participation in women’s volleyball this season. Transfers are not eligible unless they didn’t participate in women’s volleyball at their previous institution. Repeat selections on the first team from the 2023 campaign included: UW-Oshkosh’s Riley Kindt and Sami Perlberg; UW-Platteville’s Emma Carlson; UW-Stevens Point’s Grace Michalske; and UW-Whitewater’s Jenna Weinfurt (Offensive Player of the Year). Kindt, Carlson, Michalske and Weinfurt added first team honors in 2022. Kindt and Weinfurt also received first team distinction in 2021. UW-Stout’s Terrah Moshier joined Fregien as repeat selections on the all-defensive team from a year ago. Ellmann secured the coaching award for the third consecutive season, becoming the first coach in conference history to accomplish the feat. UW-Oshkosh has compiled a 26-4 record this year and claimed the WIAC regular-season championship for the 15th time in program archives. An All-Sportsmanship Team was announced for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season.
