Women's Gymnastics 3/13/2023 1:32:56 PM Women’s Gymnastics Awards Distributed MADISON, Wis.--The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) announced its awards for the 2023 women’s gymnastics season at the WIAC Women’s Gymnastics Championship/National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) West Regional (presented by Culver’s). The awards were voted on by the league coaches. University of Wisconsin-La Crosse’s Cate Sandvik and UW-Stout’s Kiara Brown were selected the Kwik Trip Co-Gymnasts of the Year, while UW-Oshkosh’s Reanna McGibboney received Kwik Trip Newcomer of the Year recognition. UW-La Crosse’s Kasey Crawford was tabbed the Kwik Trip Coach of the Year. Sandvik competed in the all-around for the first time in her career this season and posted a season-high score of 38.050. Her score of 9.825 in the floor exercise was the second-highest in the WIAC during the regular season. Sandvik secured Athlete of the Week honors in the all-around three times in 2023. Brown finished second in the all-around competition at the WIAC Championship/NCGA West Regional with a score of 38.100. It was her fifth time scoring above 38.000 this season. She posted a career-best of 9.700 on the uneven parallel bars, and earned a season high of 9.650 on the balance beam and floor exercise. McGibboney recorded a third-place finish in the vault with a score of 9.775 at the WIAC Championship/NCGA West Regional. She had season-high scores of 9.825 in the vault and 9.725 in the floor exercise. A Newcomer of the Year is defined as a student-athlete who used her first season of participation in women’s gymnastics this season. Transfers are not eligible unless they didn’t participate in women’s gymnastics at their previous institution. Crawford led UW-La Crosse to an 8-0 mark against conference schools and a second-place finish at the WIAC Championship/NCGA West Regional. The Eagles qualified for the NCGA Championship that will be conducted on March 25. UW-La Crosse posted a team score of 192.650 at the San Jose State University (Calif.) Triangular on Jan. 29 – the fourth-highest team score in program history. The conference also announced the All-Conference Team that included the top-six finishers in each event at the WIAC Championship/NCGA West Regional. # # # # #
