All-WIAC Women’s Soccer Team Revealed

MADISON, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-La Crosse’s Ellie Arndt, Alexis McMahon and Sophia Anger were selected the Kwik Trip Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year, respectively, to lead the individuals chosen to the 2023 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women’s Soccer Team by the league coaches. In addition, UW-Oshkosh’s Lauren Silvestri was chosen the Kwik Trip Newcomer of the Year, while UW-La Crosse was tabbed the Kwik Trip Coaching Staff of the Year.
 
Arndt secured first team recognition for the second straight year and becomes the fourth individual in program history to claim the Offensive Player of the Year award, joining Margaret Harings (2017, 2018), Sophie Amundson (2021) and Ainsley Allan (2022). She has recorded one goal and three assists for five points. Her 43 shots rank fourth in the conference.
 
McMahon, a three-time first team selection, earned the Defensive Player of the Year award for the second consecutive season becoming the second individual in conference history to accomplish the feat. UW-La Crosse’s Maya Schmitt achieved the distinction in 2017 and 2018. McMahon is tied for seventh in the WIAC with four assists and tied for eighth with 35 shots.
 
Anger leads the conference with a .212 goals against average, .923 save percentage and 10 shutouts. UW-La Crosse has produced 12 shutouts this season, which is the second-highest total in program archives.

Silvestri is the second Titan to receive the Newcomer of the Year honor, joining Molly Jackson (2021). She played all 19 matches and recorded a goal on a penalty kick against University of Olivet (Mich.) on Sept. 10. Silvestri is one of two freshmen to collect all-conference recognition. A Newcomer of the Year is defined as a student-athlete who used her first season of participation in women's soccer this season. Transfers are not eligible unless they didn’t participate in women’s soccer at their previous institution.
  
Repeat selections on the first team from the 2022 campaign included: UW-Eau Claire’s Elise Pinewski; UW-La Crosse’s Ainsley Allan (Offensive Player of the Year), Claire Cater and Addie Pauling; UW-Platteville’s Lydia Smith; and UW-Whitewater’s Liz Prigge and Emily Thill.
 
UW-Eau Claire’s Megan Hansen, UW-Oshkosh’s Molly Jackson (Newcomer of the Year) and UW-Stout’s Hailey Kane were first team honorees in 2021.
 
Coaching Staff of the Year distinction was presented to UW-La Crosse, which won the regular season title for the second straight season. The Eagles finished undefeated (7-0) against WIAC opponents for the second consecutive year and fourth time in program history. The coaching staff includes: head coach Jason Murphy; assistant coaches Ashley St. Aubin, Joe Czerniak and Lily Brock; and student assistant coaches Kenzie Farrington and Claire Rankin.
 
An All-Sportsmanship Team was announced for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. It included one member from each team.
