Baseball 6/2/2021 10:18:47 AM UW-Whitewater’s O’Sullivan Headlines 17 Chosen To ABCA/Rawlings All-Midwest Region Squad Official ABCA Release MADISON, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Whitewater’s Matt O’Sullivan was chosen the Pitcher of the Year to headline 17 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) individuals selected to the 2021 NCAA Division III American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-Midwest Region Team. O’Sullivan, the 2021 WIAC Pitcher of the Year, is the third Warhawk to earn the ABCA regional honor, joining Riley Tincher (2010) and Heath Renz (2017). An all-region third team honoree in 2019, he led the conference this season with 125 strikeouts, 87.1 innings pitched and 10 victories, while placing third with a 1.96 earned run average, and fourth with a .186 opponent batting average. O’Sullivan reached double-digits in strikeouts in six contests, including a career-high 17 against Finlandia University (Mich.) on March 26. The mark matched the second-highest single-game total in program history. Joining O’Sullivan on the first team were: UW-Oshkosh’s Jarrett Scheelk and Hunter Staniske; UW-Platteville’s Jonathan Kelso; UW-Stevens Point’s Sidney Ferry and Aaron Simmons; and UW-Whitewater’s Westin Muir. Simmons claimed first team accolades for the second straight season, while Kelso and Muir were second team selections in 2019. Second team picks included: UW-La Crosse’s Brennan Schmitt; UW-Stevens Point’s Payton Nelson; and UW-Stout’s Kasey Bass. Bass secured second team recognition in 2019, while Schmitt was a third team performer. Third team honorees consisted of: UW-Stevens Point’s Bradley Comer; UW-Stout’s James Palmer and Charlie Szykowny; and UW-Whitewater’s Donovan Brandl, Matt Korman, Connor Spear and Sam Vomhof. # # # # #
