UW-Eau Claire's Baierl and UW-Platteville's Asche Named WIAC Kwik Trip Women's Volleyball Athletes ot the Week

MADISON, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Kendra Baierl and UW-Platteville's Kaite Asche have been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Kwik Trip Women's Volleyball Athletes of the Week for the week of Oct. 11 - 17.

Baierl (Sr., MH, Marshfield, Wis./Columbus Catholic) contributed 26 kills on a .467 attack percentage and averaged 1.25 blocks per set to propel the Blugolds to a 3-0 week. In a WIAC showdown with UW-La Crosse on Oct. 15, she contributed 11 kills and six blocks. Against Illinois Wesleyan University, Baierl added four blocks to her 15 kills, while attacking at a .619 clip to lead the Blugolds to the three match sweep.
 
Asche (Sr. MB, Pecatonica, Ill./Durand) tallied 16 blocks in six sets (2.67 per set) in a 1-1 week for the Pioneers. On Oct. 13, Asche had one solo block and three block assists in a loss to Coe College (Iowa). She then erupted for 12 total blocks (five solo and seven assists) in a 3-0 win over UW-River Falls on Oct. 15. Asche added seven digs, three aces and six kills (.278 hitting percentage) to the career-high 12 blocks against UW-River Falls.
