UW-Stevens Point’s Ryckman Named Men’s Ice Hockey Player of the Year; Krueger Receives Coaching Honor

MADISON, Wis.
--University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s Connor Ryckman was selected the Player of the Year to lead the individuals chosen to the 2019 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men’s Ice Hockey Team by the league coaches. In addition, UW-Stevens Point’s Tyler Krueger was tabbed the Coach of the Year.
 
Ryckman is the fourth Pointer to win the award in its six-year history, joining Garrett Ladd (2014), Kevin Gibson (2015) and Tanner Karty (2018). Ryckman leads the conference with a 1.40 goals-against-average and 22 wins, while ranking second with a .934 save percentage and fourth with 454 saves. He had a season-best 44 saves against UW-Eau Claire on Feb. 9, 2019.
 
Repeat selections on the first team from a season ago included: UW-Eau Claire’s Lucas Kohls; UW-River Falls’ Eddie Matsushima; UW-Stevens Point’s Stephan Beauvais and Tanner Karty; and UW-Stout’s Mathias Ahman.
 
Krueger received the coaching award after leading the Pointers to the first unbeaten regular season (25-0-2) in program history. UW-Stevens Point claimed the WIAC regular-season championship for the third straight year and 13th time in school archives.
 
An All-Sportsmanship Team was chosen for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. It included one member from each school.
