USTFCCCA Honors 14 Teams and 44 Individuals With All-Academic Recognition

MADISON, Wis.--The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced its Scholar Team and Scholar-Athletes for the 2018 cross country season.
 
All eight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) women’s squads earned USTFCCCA recognition with the following grade point averages: UW-Eau Claire (3.49); UW-La Crosse (3.51); UW-Oshkosh (3.42); UW-Platteville (3.48); UW-River Falls (3.21); UW-Stevens Point (3.41); UW-Stout (3.48); and UW-Whitewater (3.29).
 
Six men’s teams received the honor, including: UW-Eau Claire (3.18); UW-La Crosse (3.33); UW-Oshkosh (3.13); UW-Platteville (3.15); UW-Stout (3.44); and UW-Whitewater (3.38).
 
For a team to be considered for this distinction, it must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional meet and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.10 on a 4.00 scale.
 
Individually, 26 WIAC women’s runners secured a spot on the All-Academic Team, including: UW-Eau Claire’s Lizzy Cisewski, Emma Drangstveit, Emily Jaeger, Morgan Marek, Sam Slattery and Lexie Tremble; UW-La Crosse’s Hannah Beilke, Annie Brekken, Dakota Holzem, Sadie Kroll and Ellie Miller; UW-Oshkosh’s Hannah Lohrenz; UW-Platteville’s Janelle Ferguson, Caitlyn Ifft, Johanna Meister and Katherine Wardinski; UW-River Falls’ Katelyn Abledinger, Nikki Jurik and Linsey Tolkkinen; UW-Stevens Point’s Georgia Harrison and Brooke Wellhausen; UW-Stout’s Molly Perkins, Jessica Petruzates, Alexandra Ploeger and Brittany Staab; and UW-Whitewater’s Jessica Braun.
 
The 18 men’s individuals were: UW-Eau Claire’s Connor Dolan and Wyatt Elmer; UW-La Crosse’s Matthew Bourland, Sam Hinz, Tyler Nault, Chris Pahnke, Josh Schraeder and Tom Schultz; UW-Oshkosh’s Cody Chadwick and Lucas Weber; UW-Platteville’s Kyle Herbrand and Zachary Lee; UW-Stevens Point’s Tyler Tanko and Axel Treinen; and UW-Stout’s Tyler Ellefson, Michael Friedman, Daniel Ressler and Joseph Van Grinsven.
 
In order to qualify for this honor, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and finish in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.
