UW-La Crosse Holds Advantage At Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship

BROWN DEER, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, the three-time defending champion, possesses the lead after the first of three days of competition at the 2015 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship at Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center on Feb. 19.
The Eagles won two individual titles and one relay crown as they amassed 286 points. UW-Whitewater is second with 186 points, UW-Eau Claire third with 175, UW-Stevens Point fourth with 165 and UW-Oshkosh fifth with 78.
UW-La Crosse’s Mikayla Beuch secured the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.64, while Jordan Anderson was victorious in three-meter diving for the second time in her career with a score of 463.60. Anderson also won the event in 2013. Beuch also helped the 200-yard freestyle relay team post a winning time of 1:34.86. She was joined by along Carrie Schrock, Brooke Reynolds and Sara Zemanovic.
UW-Stevens Point’s Amanda Walker claimed the 500-yard freestyle for the second consecutive year with a conference meet record time of 4:56.45. The Pointer quartet of Emily Nienhaus, Katelynn Homeyer, Cassie Matthys and Katarina Walker-Daniels produced a first-place time of 3:53.99 in the 400-yard medley relay.
UW-Whitewater’s Sarah Arteaga was victorious in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:08.16.
