UW-Stevens Point Announces Hall of Fame Class of 2013
STEVENS POINT, Wis.--The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point has announced the 2013 inductees into the Athletic Hall of Fame. This year's honorees include Jessie (Bushman) Anderson, Brant Bailey, Kelly (Rutta) Erickson, Kelly Fink, Ryan Jones, Scott Krause, Jessica Ott and Abby Richter.
The Hall of Fame ceremony will take place in conjunction with Homecoming weekend Oct. 4-6. Honorees will be introduced at halftime of the football game versus UW-River Falls on Oct. 5 and will be honored with a ceremony that evening at the Dreyfus University Center on the UW-Stevens Point campus.

Jessie (Bushman) Anderson (Rosholt, WI/Rosholt) (Major: English, 1992-97): In three years at UW-Stevens Point and one year at UW-Platteville, Anderson was a standout track and field performer. She was a two-time 800m national champion, nine-time All-American and a 12-time WIAC champion (400m, 600m, 800m, sprint medley relay). Anderson still holds indoor records in the 200m and 400m and the outdoor record in the 400m. She also holds the 600m record for Multi-Activity Center. She was twice named a WIAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Meet (1992-93 and 1996-97) and Anderson won the same award for outdoor track in 1992-93. The Olsen, Ander, Clark, Bushman sprint medley relay still holds the conference record at 1:47.36 from 1993. Anderson currently lives in Rosholt with her three children, Dausen, Reese, and Taigan, where she teaches eighth grade English at D.C. Everest.
Brant Bailey (Wisconsin Dells, WI/Wisconsin Dells) (Major: communication, 1996-2000): Bailey spent four seasons as a member of the UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team and still holds multiple records, including the mark for points in a season with 723 in 1999-2000. He also holds UWSP marks in free throws made in a game (25), season (219) and career (444). His 1,506 career points rank eighth in school history. As a senior, Bailey was a team captain and MVP of the WIAC championship and NCAA Elite 8 team. He was also named a NABC First Team All-American and the WIAC Player of the Year as a senior. Bailey was a two-time WIAC First Team All-Conference selection and was an honorable mention for one season. After graduating from UWSP, Bailey played professionally in Europe and Asia. After retiring from professional basketball, Bailey made the move to coaching and is currently serving as a graduate assistant for the Pointers men's basketball team.
Kelly (Rutta) Erickson (Stevens Point, WI/Pacelli) (Major: physical education, 1997-2001): Erickson was a four-year starter at second base for the UW-Stevens Point softball team. Upon graduation, Erickson ranked inside the top 20 in the NCAA in most at bats in a season (172 in 1998) and also held school records for triples in a season (8) and career total bases (280). She ranks second in most hits in a career (200) and in a season (64) and third in career doubles (34) and triples (11). Erickson was a Second Team All-American in 2001. She was also a two-time First Team All-WIAC player, a two-year captain and team MVP, and the two-time WIAC East Division Co-Player of the Year. Her team won the NCAA national championship in 1998 and she was selected to the NCAA All-Regional and All-National tournament teams. Erickson, a physical education major, also received the WIAC Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete Award in 2001, was a four-time UWSP Scholar-Athlete Award winner, and received the NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete award in 1997-98. She was also a member of the WIAC Softball All-Time Team as of 2012. Erickson resides in Platteville with her husband Rob and children Maya, (8), Jared (7), and Kami Grace (5), where she teaches middle school physical education.
Kelly Fink (West Bend, WI/West) (Major: elementary education, 2001-03): Fink was a three-year star for the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team. In 62 career starts, Fink tallied 156 career points (67 goals and 22 assists), placing her fourth in Pointers history. The 67 goals also are the third most in school history and rank fifth on the all-time WIAC scoring chart. She holds three of the top nine highest goal-scoring seasons by a player in UWSP history by virtue of her three straight seasons scoring 20 or more goals. Fink was a three-time first team all-conference player at UWSP and was named WIAC Player of the Year in 2003. As a junior and senior, she earned CoSida Academic Third Team All-American accolades. In 2002, the junior was named a third team All-American by Adidas and the NSCAA. In 2011, Fink was recognized as a member of the WIAC Conference All-Time Centennial Team. In her three years at UW-Stevens Point and one year at Concordia (Wis.), Fink scored 229 career points, including 96 goals, which ranks in the top 20 in NCAA Division III history for a career.
Ryan Jones (Eau Claire, WI/North) (Major: biology, 2002-05): A two-time First Team All-WIAC first baseman at UW-Stevens Point, Jones' name still features prominently in the UWSP and WIAC record books. Jones holds UWSP school records for runs scored in a season (68 in 2005), career runs scored (190), career runs batted in (171), career homeruns (50), career total bases (403), and walks in a season (42 in 2002). His 50 homeruns are the second most in WIAC history and he also ranks sixth in runs, seventh in RBIs, and third in walks in the conference. In addition, Jones is fifth in UW-Stevens Point history in career hits (211) and second in career walks (114). Jones' 2005 season was one of the best individual seasons in Pointers history as his 17 homeruns and 68 runs scored are the second-most in school history, while his 58 RBIs are the third-most in a season. Jones was also recognized as an all-region player in 2002, 2003, and 2005. He was a member of the team that was WIAC champions and a NCAA Division III Regional runner-up in 2002.
Scott Krause (Waunakee, WI/Waunakee) (Major: elementary education, 2000-03): Krause was a four-year starter at quarterback for the UW-Stevens Point football team. In his junior and senior seasons, Krause was a team captain, team MVP and First Team All-WIAC player. In 2003, he was the WIAC Player of the Year, a First Team All-American, and a finalist for the Gagliardi Award. Krause was a three-time team offensive player of the year and was elected to the WIAC 100 Year All-Time Football team. He holds the single-season school record for completion percentage at 66.1 percent in 2003. He ranks third in career offensive yards (9,003), career touchdown passes (67), single-season touchdown passes (37) and fourth in passing yards in a season (2,963). Krause is fifth in school history in career attempts (1,043), completions (566), and passing yards (7,715). In 2004, Krause won the Grey Cup with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. He is currently an at-risk teacher at Waunakee High School where he is also an assistant football coach. At Waunakee, his teams were state champions in 2009, 2010, 2011, and runners-up in 2012. Krause lives in Waunakee with his wife Katie, son Cole (6) and daughter Elsa (2).
Jessica Ott (New Glarus, WI/New Glarus) (Major: communication, 1996-2001): A three-time First Team All-WIAC performer, Ott's name still features prominently in the UW-Stevens Point record book. She is UWSP's third all-time leading scorer (1,592 points) and ranks second in career scoring average (16.2), fifth in career field goals made (505), third in career free throws made (359), and first in career three pointers made (223). She has two of the three highest marks in three pointers made in a season. Ott was a three-year captain and team MVP. She was a two-time DIII News Honorable Mention All-American and was named to the NCAA Division III Midwest All-Region Team in 1997-98. Ott also was a Columbus Multimedia Second Team All-Midwest honoree in 1999-00 and a Columbus Multimedia Honorable Mention All-Central Region honoree in 1998-99. She is currently the assistant director of athletics at Milwaukee School of Engineering, where she is also the senior woman administrator and head women's basketball coach. She has twice been named Northern Athletics Conference Coach of the Year and guided the program to its first ever winning season.
Abby (Rabinovitz) Richter (Green Bay, WI/Southwest) (Major: broadfield social science and history, 1997-2001): Richter starred as a goalkeeper and four-year starter on the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team. She led her teams to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and a 44-0 conference record. As a senior, she led the Pointers to the NCAA Division III Final Four and was a First Team Central Region All-America selection. Richter holds the school record for consecutive scoreless minutes (945) and owns the top two seasons in terms of goals against average. She is tied for second in career goalkeeper wins (45) and holds the most wins in a season with 20 in 2000. Richter is in her eighth season as an assistant coach at Kent State University. During her tenure, the Golden Flashes have won the Mid-American Conference three times. Richter has also coached internationally, serving as the head coach for the gold medal-winning United States Women's Open team at the 19th Maccabiah Games in Israel. She lives in Stow, Ohio with her husband Jeremy and daughter Grace.
