MADISON, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s JP Feyereisen and UW-Whitewater’s Marty Herum were selected the Pitcher of the Year and Position Player of the Year, respectively, to lead the 20 individuals chosen to the 2013 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Baseball Team by the league coaches.  UW-Whitewater’s John Vodenlich was picked the Coach of the Year.

Feyereisen tops the conference with a 2.24 earned run average and a .213 opponent batting average, while ranking fourth with six victories, fifth with 51 strikeouts and ninth with 64.1 innings pitched.  He has made 11 appearances, including 10 starting assignments, and amassed six or more strikeouts four times, including a season-high nine against UW-Platteville on April 5.  UW-Stevens Point has had four individuals combine to win five conference Pitcher of the Year honors.

Herum claimed the Position Player of the Year award for the second straight season, becoming just the second individual in WIAC history to accomplish the feat.  UW-Oshkosh’s Jeremy Jirschele secured the honor in 2004 and 2005.

Herum leads the WIAC with a .430 batting average and 22 doubles, while placing third with 71 hits and a .739 slugging percentage, fourth with four triples, fifth with 48 runs scored and a .470 on-base percentage, sixth with 42 RBI and seventh with seven home runs.  He has recorded at least one hit in 36 of 39 games this season, including 21 multi-hit performances and three contests with four hits.

Repeat selections on the first team from a season ago included:  UW-Stevens Point’s Sean Gerber and Ryan Schilter; and UW-Whitewater’s Jared Fon (Position Player of the Year).  Gerber was also a first team pick in 2011, along with teammate Dan Douglas and UW-Oshkosh’s Tyler Kamps.

Vodenlich earned the coaching honor for the fifth time in his career.  He directed the Warhawks to a 34-7 record during the regular-season and the 14th conference championship in program history.  UW-Whitewater also earned a spot in the NCAA Division III Championship for the sixth consecutive season.

An All-Sportsmanship Team was selected for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season.  It included one member from each school.
