LAKE PLACID, N.Y.
--University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire captured its first-ever NCAA Division III Men’s Ice Hockey Championship with a 5-3 win over Oswego State University of New York at Herb Brooks Arena on March 16.

The national crown for the Blugolds is the second in program history after they won the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) championship in 1984.  UW-Eau Claire completed the 2013 campaign with a 24-5-2 record and made its second consecutive NCAA appearance.

The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has now collected 11 men’s ice national championships.  NCAA Division III crowns have been won by UW-River Falls in 1998 and 1994, UW-Stevens Point in 1989, 1990, 1991 and 1993, and UW-Superior in 2002.  The conference won NAIA crowns by the Falcons in 1983 and the Yellowjackets in 1976.
