UW-Whitewater Sustains Lead At Women’s Golf Championship

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Whitewater sustained its lead the 2012 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women’s Golf Championship following the second of three days of competition at Bull’s Eye Country Club.

The Warhawks entered the day with a seven-stroke advantage over UW-Stout and extended their margin to 11 strokes after the first 36 holes.  UW-Whitewater owns a two-day total of 673 strokes, while UW-Stout is second with 684 strokes.  UW-Eau Claire, the three-time defending champion, is third with 689 strokes, while UW-River Falls is fourth with 727, UW-Platteville is fifth with 738, UW-Stevens Point sixth with 753 and UW-Oshkosh seventh with 761.

Individually, UW-Stout’s Brittany McNett-Emmerich tops the 48-player field with 161 strokes.  UW-Eau Claire’s Catherine Wagner is second with 164 strokes, UW-Whitewater’s Nicole Westcott third with 165 and UW-Eau Claire’s Kate Engler fourth with 166.  UW-Platteville’s Kellsey Welter and UW-Stout’s Mariah Chesley are tied for fifth with 167.  UW-Stevens Point’s McKenna Prestigiacomo is seventh with 168 and UW-Whitewater’s Sarah Bregant and Sammie Leibham are tied for ninth with 169.  UW-Whitewater’s Megan Ramp is 10th with 170.

The 54-hole event will conclude October 7 with tee times scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
