Blugolds Maintain Advantage At Women’s Golf Championship

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire maintained its advantage at the 2011 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women’s Golf Championship after the second of three days of competition at Bull’s Eye Country Club.
The two-time defending champions, entered the day with a 19-stroke lead over UW-Stevens Point. UW-Eau Claire expanded its advantage to 38 strokes after accumulating a two-day sum of 647 strokes. UW-Stevens Point remains second with 685 strokes, while UW-Stout is third with 691, UW-Whitewater fourth with 701, UW-Platteville fifth with 716, UW-River Falls sixth with 736 and UW-Oshkosh seventh with 739.
Individually, UW-Stevens Point’s Mary Welch still leads the 54-player field with a 36-hole total of 157 strokes. UW-Eau Claire’s Catherine Wagner is second with 159 strokes, while teammate Maggie Lattery is third with 160, UW-Whitewater’s Nicole Wescott is fourth with 162, UW-Eau Claire’s Emily Swift is fifth with 164, UW-Eau Claire’s Sara Mattes is sixth with 165, UW-Stout’s Kitty Nicastro is seventh with 170. Tied for eighth at 171 strokes are UW-Stevens Point’s McKenna Prestigiacomo, UW-Stout’s Brittany McNett-Emmerich and UW-Whitewater’s Megan Ramp.
The 54-hole championship will conclude October 9 with the final 18 holes and tee times beginning at 10 a.m.
