A longtime sports official, Lou L. Pitt, Jr. was associated with the WIAC for nearly four decades (1976-2010). During that time, he officiated hundreds of WIAC contests in the sports of football, women’s basketball and softball. While officiating records only go back so far, it is likely he officiated more WIAC athletics contests than any other official in the history of the conference.
He served as the conference's women's basketball rules interpreter from 1986-91. Pitt was selected to work numerous NCAA playoff games, including 10 Division III football contests. He also worked extensively as a Division I and II basketball official and was selected to officiate the 1991 NCAA Women’s Division I Championship game between Tennessee and Virginia.
Pitt passed away in November 2011.
