Sheila Miech served as UW-Stevens Point’s women’s soccer coach from 1987-2011 and compiled a 365-117-31 record (.742 winning percentage). The 365 wins are the most in conference history and ranked 12th on the NCAA all-time list for any division upon her retirement. Her teams captured 14 WIAC regular-season championships and 15 tournament titles.
From 1997-2003, UW-Stevens Point established a NCAA Division III record by winning 70 straight conference matches – a mark that currently ranks third all-time. The Pointers made 15 NCAA appearances during her tenure, advancing to the national semifinals in 2000, Elite Eight twice and Sweet 16 five times.
Miech was chosen conference Coach of the Year nine times and NCAA Division III Central Region Coach of the Year three seasons. In 2012, she was selected the WIAC Women’s Soccer All-Time Coach in conjunction with the conference’s Centennial Celebration. Miech coached 12 of the 24 players on Women’s Soccer All-Time Team. She was inducted into the UW-Stevens Point Hall of Fame in 2014 and the first female inductee into the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2012. In 2017, she was inducted into the Wisconsin Soccer Hall of Fame.
Miech earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education/health education from UW-Stevens Point and master’s degree in education with an emphasis in health education from UW-Whitewater. She resides in Stevens Point, Wis.
