Roger Kuss was a member of UW-River Falls’ men’s basketball team from 1951-53, earning NAIA All-America recognition all three seasons. He scored 1,924 career points for a conference-record average of 27.5 points per game, including an astonishing 38.9 points per contest during the 1952-53 campaign. The 1,924 points rank fourth on the school’s all-time list.

In 1953, Kuss was selected the national Player of the Year, conference Player of the Year and poured in 57 points against UW-Stout – the second-highest single-game total in conference history. He was a three-time all-conference selection.

Kuss was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame in 1959 and UW-River Falls Hall of Fame in 1977. He was a charter member of the NAIA District 14 Hall of Fame in 1976. In 2012, Kuss was selected to the WIAC Men’s Basketball All-Time Team in conjunction with the conference’s Centennial Celebration.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in education. Kuss passed away in July 1979.
