It has been said Dwight Chinnock was the glue that held the conference together during its middle years, serving as UW-Stout’s faculty athletic representative to the conference from 1942-69. Chinnock was secretary of the conference for many years and responsible for budget, officials, scheduling and records until a full-time commissioner was named in 1966.

He was a member of the UW-River Falls football and men’s basketball teams from 1918-20 and 1922, earning all-conference honors in football in 1920 and men’s basketball in 1922. In 1969, Chinnock received an Award of Merit from the NAIA for his many years serving as the district eligibility chair.

The HKMC Residence Hall on campus bestows his name – “Hansen | Keith | Milnes | Chinnock”. Chinnock was inducted into the UW-Stout Hall of Fame as a charter member in 1978 and UW-River Falls Hall of Fame in 1981.
He earned a diploma from UW-River Falls, a bachelor’s degree from UW-Stout and master’s degree from the University of Minnesota. Chinnock passed away in September 1985.
