Scott “Arnie” Arneson was a member of UW-Platteville’s wrestling team from 1985-88, posting a career record of 126-25 and qualifying for the NCAA Division III championship all four years. He earned All-America honors in 1985 with a fourth-place finish at 118 pounds and 1988 with a fifth-place finish at 126 pounds.

He was a three-time conference champion, securing the 118-pound title in 1986 and the 126-pound crown in 1987 and 1988. UW-Platteville placed third at the conference meet in 1985, 1987 and 1988. Arneson was named the John Peterson Wrestler of the Meet at the 1988 conference championship. He was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2017 and UW-Platteville’s Hall of Fame in 2011. Arneson is a member of the Merrill (Wis.) High School, Rhinelander (Wis.) High School and Wisconsin Wrestling Coaches Association halls of fame.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education and resides in Merrill, Wis.
