Induction Video(Written: June 2015)From 1969 through 1995, Ken Anderson became the winningest men’s basketball coach in conference and UW-Eau Claire history with a career record of 631-152 (.805 winning percentage). He led the Blugolds to 14 conference and 14 NAIA District 14 championships, while making 15 trips to the NAIA Nationals in Kansas City. His teams were national runner-up in the 32-team tournament in both 1972 and 1990. Twenty-one times his teams won 20 or more games and twice, they won 30 games. His post-season record was 69-23. He was recognized as the NAIA National Coach of the Year three times (1972, 1980 and 1981).
On the national level, Anderson coached the United States team to the gold medal at the 1979 World University Games in Mexico City. He coached in the 1978 National Sports Festival in Colorado Springs and was a member of the ABA-USA Games Committee, which selected players for the Pan-American Games and the Olympics.
Anderson has been inducted into the NAIA Basketball, NAIA District 14, Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association, UW-Eau Claire and Abbotsford High School halls of fame. UW-Eau Claire’s basketball court is named in his honor. In 2012, Anderson was selected the WIAC Men’s Basketball All-Time Co-Coach in conjunction with the conference’s Centennial Celebration and named to the NAIA 75th Anniversary All-Star Team.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in education with a social science major and physical education minor from UW-Eau Claire and master’s degree in physical education from UW-Madison. Anderson resides in Eau Claire, Wis.
