Wendy (Wangerin) Meka was a member of the UW-Oshkosh women’s basketball team from 1993-96, golf team in 1996, and softball team from 1996-97. She helped the basketball squad win the 1996 NCAA Division III Championship.

Meka was tabbed the NCAA Division III Player of the Year in 1996 by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) after receiving WBCA All-America Honorable Mention status in 1995. She added conference Player of the Year honors in 1996, becoming the first Titan to receive the distinction. Meka was an all-conference first team selection from 1993-96 and is the only four-time first team honoree in program history. She helped UW-Oshkosh compile a 99-14 record and win conference championships in 1994, 1995 and 1996.

Meka ranks seventh on the conference’s all-time list with 1,743 career points and 711 career field goals made. She owns two of the top-nine single season conference marks in field goals made with 243 (fifth) in 1995 and 226 (ninth) in 1996.

On the softball diamond, she collected all-conference accolades in 1996 and 1997, and National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region honors both years – third team recognition in 1996 and first team accolades in 1997. Meka helped the 1997 squad secure a NCAA postseason bid.

Meka was inducted into the UW-Oshkosh Athletics Hall of Fame in 2009. In 2012, she was selected to the WIAC Women’s Basketball All-Time Team in conjunction with the conference’s Centennial Celebration.

Meka earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from UW-Oshkosh, and master’s degrees in education and educational administration from California State University, San Bernardino. She resides in Indio, Calif., with her husband Mark. They have two sons Cole and Chase.
