Jim Doden served as the WIAC Coordinator of Baseball Umpires from 2004-22 and officiated in many capacities for the conference, including 32 years as a baseball umpire, 28 years as a basketball referee and 21 years as a football official. He officiated over 1,400 collegiate contests, including over 900 in baseball, 340 in basketball and 180 in football. The highlight of his officiating career was serving as an umpire at the 1996 NCAA Division III World Series.

In addition to his experience with the WIAC, Doden is in his 59th year as a Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association official, where he has officiated over 1,700 games, including over 730 in baseball, 520 in football and 450 in basketball.

He was the commissioner for the Valley 8 Conference from 1999-2007. In 2000, he was named commissioner of the Fox Valley Association and served in the role through the 2024-25 season.

Doden has been a member of the National Education Association, Association of Wisconsin School Administrators, Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials, National Association of Sports Officials, Green Bay Officials Association and Fox Cities Officials Association.

He was inducted into the Green Bay Officials Association Hall of Fame in 2010 and Shoreland Baseball League Hall of Fame in 2019.

Doden earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education with a minor in mathematics from UW-La Crosse, and was a member of the baseball team. He resides in Appleton, Wis., with his wife of 54 years Diane. They have two sons Jeff and Jon, and four grandchildren.
