The 158 wins are the third most in conference history. He led the Warhawks to eight conference championships and five NCAA Division III postseason appearances. In 1988, UW-Whitewater made its first-ever NCAA tournament appearance, and the 2005 and 2006 seasons culminated with national runner-up finishes and a 28-2 overall record, including 14-0 mark in conference games. The 28 wins were the most during a two-year stretch in program history. Berezowitz coached three Gagliardi Trophy finalists and 18 athletes to 42 All-America awards. He was a two-sport athlete at UW-Whitewater, competing on the football and baseball teams. In football, Berezowitz was selected co-captain and co-MVP for the 1966 season. He helped UW-Whitewater reach the NAIA semifinal game that same year and added AP All-America Second Team accolades. He was a two-time NAIA District 14 All-Area selection and all-conference honoree. At the time of his graduation, Berezowitz owned 15 program career records. In baseball, Berezowitz was a NAIA World Series participant in 1965, and secured All-America honorable mention honors that same year. The student athletic complex at UW-Whitewater was named in his honor in 2012 as the Berezowitz Student Athletic Complex. He was inducted into the NAIA District 14 Hall of Fame in 1982, Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1988, and UW-Whitewater Athletics Hall of Fame as a student athlete in 1982 and again as a coach in 2014. Berezowitz earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and master’s degree in educational development from UW-Whitewater. He resides in Darien, Wis., with his wife Janice. They have two daughters Becky and Bonnie, two sons Dan and Steven, and 16 grandchildren.
