Klein won the Jim Drews Invitational hosted by UW-La Crosse on Oct. 16, running a time of 24:37.6. This was a personal record by 14 secnds and makes him the fourth-fastest Pioneer of all time and only the second Pioneer to win this meet after Tyler Sigl's win in 2007. Klein’s win, along with teammates Jason Garvens second-place finish, lead the Pioneers to second place in the team standings, behind the University of Minnesota, their highest finish ever at this meet.
