Smith won the triple jump at the Squig Converse Invitational hosted by UW-Whitewater on Feb. 1. His jump of 50-4 1/2, broke his own school record and tied the Kachel Fieldhouse record first established by Adeoye Madogunje of the University of Chicago (Ill.) at the 2004 NCAA Division III Championship. Although not a field event, Smith also won the 60-meter hurdles in the meet, setting a school and fieldhouse record of 8.01.
