Cardwell had two big games to help the Falcons to a two-game road sweep at UW-Stout during the week. He was involved in five of the team’s six goals. In a 4-2 win on Jan. 11, he scored twice and had an assist. Cardwell assisted on the team’s second goal at 16:45 of the second period. With the score tied, 2-2, he scored what proved to be the game-winning goal at 13:05 of the third period. He added an empty-net goal later in the contest. On Jan. 12, Cardwell scored twice on special teams play. He recorded an unassisted short-handed goal to give UW-River Falls a 1-0 lead at 15:22 of the first period. At 51 seconds of the second period, he scored a power-play goal that proved to be the game-winner again. Cardwell had four shots on goal in the first game against the Blue Devils and led the Falcons with seven shots on goal in the second contest.
