Four first period pins and a 5-3 win in the quarterfinals propelled Wunnicke to individual champion honors at 133 pounds at the 2012 Pete Willson Wheaton College (Ill.) Invitational. He extended his winning streak to 13 in the process. For the season, Wunnicke is now 27-3 overall and has posted 23 of the wins by a first period pin. For his efforts at the tournament, Wunnicke was recognized as the Most Outstanding Wrestler and Most Pins in Least Time.
