Nelson dominated the 372-runner field at the Blugold Invitational on Sept. 30 at Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax, Wis. He cruised the 8-kilometer course in 24-minutes, 36.5 seconds, outpacing the nearest opponent by almost 45 seconds. The second-place runner was unattached and came in at 25:15.4 and the next runner, a collegiate runner from St. Olaf College (Minn.) clocked a time of 25:19.4. Nelson ran the entire second half of the race by himself.
