Mesick reached 1,000 career points as the Blugolds came up short 69-58 in their season-opener at the College of St. Benedict (Minn.) Nov. 16. In that game, she led all players with 25 points, going 11-of-17 from the floor, and had seven rebounds. In a 62-48 victory at Millikin University (Ill.) Nov. 19, she recorded a double-double with a game-high 23 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. Despite a close 69-64 loss to Marian University (Ind.) Nov. 20, Mesick again had a big game, scoring 26 points, two shy of her career record, while grabbing a game-best eight rebounds. She went 14-of-15 from the free throw line, two short of a program record for most free throws made in a game. After the three games, she ranks 13th on the Blugolds’ all-time scoring list with 1,072 points. Just 14 players in program history have reached 1,000 career points.
