MADISON, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s Sara Mattes was designated the Player of the Year to top the 10 individuals named on the 2010 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women’s Golf Team.

The team was determined by using the NCAA Division III GolfStat rankings immediately following the conclusion of the conference championship. A player must have completed eight rounds in order to be considered.

Mattes compiled a 80.7 stroke average in 11 rounds during the fall season and broke 80 on four occasions, including a season-best 75 in the opening round of the O’Brien National Invitational. She secured medalist honors at the WIAC championship and added a second-place finish at the Georgianni Memorial Invitational, while tying for eighth at the O’Brien National Invitational. Mattes was an All-WIAC second team honoree a year ago and is the third individual in program history to earn the league’s top trophy.

Repeat selections on the first team from a year ago include UW-Eau Claire’s Emily Swift and Catherine Wagner. Swift posted a conference-leading 80.0 stroke average this year and had her best finishes at the Wartburg (Iowa) Fall Invitational (third) and Georgianni Memorial Invitational (tied for fourth). She was a second team choice during the 2008 season.

Wagner posted a 81.5 stroke average and tied for second at the conference championship, while placing sixth at the Georgianni Memorial Invitational.
